About Me

About mid-morning, you will find me at a little cafe having a breakfast and a cup of coffee, reading my Bible and Wm Barclay studying the Gospels, and this is a mighty long sentence.

{Yes, I meant Wm, not Robt. Barclay.]

About Me

I am first and foremost a husband, and a Christian Quaker, a student of psychology and sociology, suffering from some chronic pain, but very grateful for my life and the Light of the Inward Christ.  I live in the eastern most part of Pennsylvania, on the Deleware river, just outside of Philadelphia in Bucks County.  I am a 45 year old student attending a University with plans on becoming a licensed professional counsellor, hopefully in a faith based facility.

About Me

I believe it was in 1990 that I attended Ohio Yearly Meeting (Conservative).  I remember I enjoyed it and Bill Tabor spoke on Gospel Order.  I am now widowed after 36 years of marriage and looking for a new relationship.  I started out Catholic, tried Southern Baptist, and have been a member of Chester River Monthly Meeting since 12month1976.  I am currently Director of Pastoral care at our local hospital and facilitate adult Bible study at a

local Episcopalian church, among other ministries.  When not entangled in the computer, I keep house for two cats and knit sweaters for children.

About Me

Hi folks-  My name is Kevin, and I have a family who live in eastern Ohio, USA, and attends Stillwater Monthly Meeting of Ohio Yearly Meeting. OYM is one of three surviving Conservative (formerly Wilburite) yearly meetings.

I live in a truck, and come home every few weeks to fix things that break and turn my wife loose so that she doesn't slaughter the children while I'm gone, although I cheerfully admit to being tempted to slaughter them myself on a regular basis.

I have a computer in the truck (which I didn't have for a year, and which made things slow) so I'm available here more or less anytime.

Pleased to have you here.

About Me

I became a convinced friend in 1973 and have lived and traveled around the world visiting all flavors of Friends.  I have picked apples in Barnesville in the 70's but ended in Salt Lake City.  I've just finished a term as Clerk of the Salt Lake Monthly Meeting and enjoy working with Friends Committee on National Legislation as well as Quaker Earthcare Witness.  I'm also involved in interfaith work as I love to dialog.  Peace on earth, peace with earth!

About Me

For some time now I have followed the conversation on the Conservative Friend list server and have always been delighted in its Christ centered testimony.  I look forward to continuing in following the dialogue and when time permits I might make a comment or two.

Although I am not a Quaker - I do have much sympathy for the Conservative Friend Quaker group due to its clear testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ as the only hope we have for all eternity.  I myself have been a Christian believer for many years and come from a Protestant upbringing as a youth.  Today I consider myself a Christain with no particular denominational affiliation.  It is in him (Jesus Christ) that I have put my hope.  Church denominations have taken a back seat in my agenda.

I believe in church community as the gathering of God's children at the feet  of him who is the headstone and inspiration of all Christian association - namely Jesus Christ.  I believe that it is only by his direction that we can hope for success in bringing fruit and glory to his name - of which is our only real purpose in this life as designed by our Creator himself.  I believe that if we give ear to the Holy Spirit (the Light as many of you say) within us and follow His direction we can participate in a joy and peace that passes all understanding - continually.

I pray that this forum will add to the glory of the name of Jesus Christ and that God will bless it's activity richly.

In Christ,
George

About Me

Hello. My name is Sandra and I have been attending a liberal meeting in Maryland (USA)for about two months. Prior to that I had not attended any kind of religious gathering for more than 20 years. A little more than a year ago I became interested in Plain dress and began to dress Plain on a part time basis; I found this gave me a sense of peace and a new-found spirituality.  I now read my Bible (almost) every day, and my meeting does have a monthly Bible class which I attend.

A Plain friend turned me on to this forum and I welcome any help and support the friends here can give me. I appreciate that I have a lot of catching up to do, but on the plus side I hail from Yorkshire, so maybe Quakerism is in my blood somewhere!

About Me

Hello Everyone,

Any Christian Quaker visiting the Twin Cities, please contact me.  We may have a guest bed available... or floor space.   Ask Stillwater Meeting for my phone number.

I am Teri.  We live in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  I am a Christian Quaker.  My first understanding of Christianity came from the Presbyterians; my family background is Scottish and Scot-Irish though I was born in California from American parents that moved west from the panhandle region and the deep south.  My older brother became a Christian through the Quakers and then I began attending a Friends Church (Rose Drive) while I was a teen.  Later I lived in Barnesville, Ohio and attended the Stillwater Monthly Meeting, a Conservative Friends Meeting.  Several years have passed since I moved to Minnesota for employment and I still miss Stillwater.  I love the conserving of the unprogrammed worship, thus the word conservative means something outside of what many may first think when they see this label in our name.  I am a member of Stillwater though I live a two day drive away.  Currently I am attending a very small Mennonite church usa that is seeking to have more intentional community throughout the week.

As a young adult, I left the country for Bible training in Canada before working and living in Iran and Afghanistan and then Europe.  I worked with a Christian mission.  When I returned to the USA I went back to university and eventually became a social worker / MSW.  I worked for several years with the poor and mentally ill.  Today I am raising my granddaughter and working just part time as a manager of two apartment buildings.  This gives me the wonderful opportunity to write.  It is a goal of mine to have a novelistic memoir completed and ready to publish one way or another... most likely self-publishing.  I am writing it mainly for my grandchild.

Here in Minnesota there are no Christ-Centered Friends Meetings.  I depend on the internet and the postings of others to feel connected to Christian Quakers / Friends.  If anyone is planning a journey to the frozen north, let me know and I may be able to meet up with you for fellowship. We may be able to provide meals and a place to sleep.

Sincerely, Teri
