I am a minister in a pastoral meeting which belongs to the much-troubled Western Yearly Meeting.  Having attended the Friends youth group at a local meeting when I was in high school, I was a member of another denomination in which I was later ordained.

Hey Kevin, thanks for your thoughts. You are right, pastorals are legitimate; I wouldn't want to judge any Christian group as being illegitmate. It's just that we have strayed off course, in my view. And I also agree that Christ can communicate through whatever channels he chooses. God gives the witness often in spite of our human shortcomings. You going to the gathering at the end of June?

Oh, I wouldn't say that the pastorals aren't legitimate Friends, Chris. The witness is from God, not from any particular man-made criteria. One of the important things about the old view of Gospel order is that it wasn't important in itself, but was simply a means to facilitate the headship of Christ among his people. If someone says that Christ can only communicate through specific channels, I would tend to think that they have a limiting view of the revelation. But in any event, welcome here.
