'He who loves his brother abides in the light.'

In silent worship the light becomes brighter, the love stronger; of God, and of our brother, of humanity.  But just beyond the door of our home we encounter humanity, not in the abstract, but in the flesh, and our brother may be an annoyance to us, (or worse), and love of humanity is left in the abstract. Or we see an earthquake on TV, and we feel love for the victims, and offer a prayer, and then switch channels.

'But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.'

Dear Ken

When our God create, create with full Love, in fact we are Love. Our destiny must be love. Love action,Love in everything. We are not islands alone. I finish when you begin. In deed we are one.

Paulo, thank you for your response. I also live in Portugal, in Portalegre. I am an affiliate member of Winona Monthly Meeting, OYM. Maybe we could start a worship group under care of OYM, despite the distance between us.

Ken, Paulo and Friends,

The nearest Conservative meeting to me is 275 miles and the next nearest is 335 miles in Houston, TX and Austin, TX respectively.  Since the odds of attending them is slim I put in to be a distant affiliate in the OYM like Ken did at Winnona.   I have learned much from the collective Light of Friends both past and present.  What Paulo said about us being one in love just taking up where the other leaves off did something in my spirit like when I first heard that there is that of God in every person.   I wish Ken and paulo and all of the Friends the best and let's keep sharing that of God in all of us.

Kevin,

I must have had Houston and Lubbock mixed up as to what kind of meeting and Lubbock is a good ways away from us at right around 400 miles.   Back when my kidos were fairly small, about 12 years ago, we took a vacation to Houston, TX and we really enjoyed it.  Hopefully, a CF meeting will open up down there.

Tim,

Isabelle has some words for Isolated Friends - has thee read them?  http://quakerjane.com/spirit.friends/spirituality-isolated.html

I myself am isolated by 95 miles to one meeting and 125 to another.  Not impossible to get there, but even as I intend to visit the miles seem to get longer and longer.   Don't discount the possibility that, should thee gather in thine own home with Friends at a distance, that more Friends will show up to join thee.  It could happen.  :)

Its interesting hearing distances from a Conservative Meeting. Here in Canada I only know of one , its in Borden, Saskatchewan about 1000 miles from where I live in British Columbia. Unless any one knows of a closer one?   In the Light.   Rob

Hi Jenna,

That is a kind of Deja Vue kind of thing, suggesting QJ, and for Friends to get together and have distant meeting.  For I just recently consulted Quaker Jane on some things to do as an isolated Friend and just a

couple of days ago I had also just considered having a meeting long distance with a group of Friends who might be willing and have the time to do so.

Friend, Tim
